A message from Tim Harlan:
Our new directory is now active and everyone has been assigned privileges.
This is the link:
http://www.neworleansrotary.org/directory/published/login.php?
The "database key" is CONTACTS
Your login name and password will be given to you at the September 12 Rotary
meeting. If you have questions, please direct them to webmaster@neworleansrotary.org.
Passwords may (and should) be changed under the "My Account" tab.
Please be sure to update your user information, which is also
located under the "My Account" tab. If you forget where this
is, email the webmaster.
A Few Instructions
While this is not complete, please note the
following as you use the database:
1. When you log in you should see the contacts in "list" view.
This is the best view and there are multiple lists for club members already
loaded. Clicking on a list shows members associated with that list.
2. Clicking on Contacts in the left hand navigation bar will always bring
up the contacts. Clicking on "Lists" in the Folders
| Lists column
will bring up the lists. Clicking on a list shows the members associated
with that list.
3. Clicking a member in any list shows that member's information.
Each member has permission to change only their own information.
This is done from within the "My Account" tab on the left and not
from the Contacts section.
4. Everyone has the ability to add, delete or modify lists. We
ask that you not modify or delete existing committee related
lists. We can recreate them, but would prefer
not to.
5. If you create a list it can be private (only you can view it), or you
can share lists with other members of the club. Remember that
they will be able manipulate your list.
6. it is the list function that makes this the collaborative tool that
Byron was asking for. I have added two lists as examples Retail and Attorneys.
Note that David Duggins is in both (for the antique house and his law practice).
Members can create a list based on anything they want. It could be professional
or personal. They can share them or not. They could be ad hoc for a sign
up list to help with a Rotary function or trip, for instance. After the function
is over the list can be deleted.
The help modules are good in this program and you are encouraged to use
them as it explains fully all the features and your ability to customize
the program for your own needs.
