We meet every Wednesday at 12 noon at Harrah's Hotel on Poydras Street, which offers validated parking. An RSVP is not necessary. If you will be bringing a guest or a visiting Rotarian, however, please notify us. Get directions or view a map.

July 14: Kellie Bentz, Director of Development, Bayou District Foundation. Kellie will tell us about the Foundation's plans for the area that was the former St. Bernard Housing Project and a potential new golf facility for City Park. In February of 2010 about 100 families moved into the new Columbia Parc Bayou District. This mixed income development is on the site of the former St. Bernard Housing Project. June 16: Boysie Bollinger, CEO, Bollinger Shipyards
Donald T. "Boysie" Bollinger is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bollinger Shipyards, Inc., a family-owned business established in 1946. Bollinger's is a full service marine construction and ship repair company headquartered in Lockport, Louisiana with 12 divisions in Louisiana and one in Texas. Read more in the June 16 BOLO.

June 2: James Bernazzini, retired, FBI - "Youth Rescue Initiative." As a graduate of Harvard University, James Bernazzani reported to the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia on June 7, 1984. His career as a lawman and crime fighter has been stellar ever since. Prior to coming to New Orleans, Bernazzani served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Houston Division where he was responsible for investigations and operations targeting international drug cartels and other organized crime groups. May 26: Errol Laborde holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of New Orleans and is the Editor in Chief of Renaissance Publishing. In that capacity he serves as Editor/Associate Publisher of New Orleans Magazine and Editor/ Publisher of Louisiana Life Magazine. Read More in the May 26 BOLO.

May 19: Monica Kalozdi Weil was born in Colombia, South America to a German father and American mother. She graduated from Loyola University, New Orleans, Cum Laude with a degree in Economics. She is a Co owner and VP of The Kalencom Corporation since 1982. Read More in the May 19 BOLO.

May 12: Dan Cameron, Director, U.S. Biennial, Inc.; DAN CAMERON is Founder and Artistic Director of U.S. Biennial, Inc, a not-for-profit (501c3) organization that produces Prospect New Orleans, a new international biennial whose first edition opened in November 2008 at multiple sites around the city, and closed in January 2009. Mississippi Tornado Relief

DG Chuck Jordan of District 6820 in north Mississippi informs us that the Rotary Club of Yazoo City has set up a fund to aid those in need of assistance in the aftermath of the devastating tornado. Funds earmarked "Disaster Relief Fund" can be mailed to:

A Donor Advised Fund has been established that is accepting contributions. Complete information is available at www.rotary.org/haiti.

Feed the Hungry with Warren Easton Interact Club

The Interact Club is collecting old cell phones which they are recycling to earn money to fund their projects. If you have any old cell phones and wish to contribute to their cause, please bring the cell phones to the Rotary meeting or deliver them to Faun Fenderson's office (700 Camp Street) - call Faun at 528-9500 (ext 319) for more info.

Your Bucks for Beans purchased 144 boxes of Macaroni and Cheese which are being distributed via the Feed the Hungry project. Your continued support for this project will ensure that these 144 families receive some protein in their food bags! Thanks!

Rotary International EmblemThe Rotary Club of New Orleans was formed on February 23, 1910 during a meeting held at 232 North Peters Street.

On April 26, 1910, with a membership of 40, the Rotary Club of New Orleans officially became the 12th Rotary Club organized in the world. The weekly meetings usually begin at 12:12pm in honor of this. Note: We will have a noon start for the foreseeable future.

In 1914, the Rotary Club of New Orleans became the 11th club to be admitted into the International Association of Rotary Clubs. More....
